Don't let a dirty pool ruin your summer fun

Without regular maintenance, a pool turns from the best part of the backyard into a source of stress and unexpected costs. Most of the repairs we quote started as a skipped week in July.

  • Algae growth can make your pool unsafe and unsightly within 48 hours of a warm, still weekend.
  • Malfunctioning equipment leads to expensive repairs — a $180 seal replaced late becomes a $1,400 pump.
  • Poor water quality affects your family's health, from itchy eyes to skin irritation after every swim.

Our promise

The same technician, every week, all season

You get a named tech who knows your equipment, your cover and where the skimmer basket sticks. No rotating crews, no "we'll send someone", no surprise invoices at the end of the month.

  • Flat seasonal pricing. You know the full-season cost in March, chemicals included.
  • Licensed and insured. $5M liability, WSIB covered, and every tech is Pool & Hot Tub Council certified.
  • 48-hour repair response. If your pump dies mid-July, we're there before the algae is.
  • We don't upsell chemicals. If the water is fine, we write "water is fine" and move on.

What Durham homeowners say

A few of the notes that came in last season.

★★★★★

“We inherited a 20-year-old pool when we bought the house and had no idea what we were doing. Dev opened it, found a cracked skimmer we'd have missed, and had us swimming by the long weekend.”

Amira HaddadWhitby · Weekly Care
★★★★★

“Third pool company in four years and the first one that shows up the same day every week. The photo after each visit is a small thing that turns out to matter a lot when you're at work.”

Marc TrottierOshawa · Pool & Spa Complete
★★★★★

“They built our fibreglass pool in eleven weeks, on the number they quoted in February. Two seasons in, the only call I've made was to add the hot tub to the plan.”

Jenna OkonkwoAjax · New build, 2024

Pool care tips

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my pool professionally cleaned?
Weekly, from opening until closing. Durham summers swing between 14°C nights and 32°C afternoons, and that swing is what lets algae take hold. Biweekly works for a pool with a good cover and light use, but you'll spend the difference on shock.
Do you offer customized maintenance plans?
Yes. The three plans on this page cover most homes, but we build custom schedules all the time — every-other-week in June and July only, cottage pools serviced Fridays, or service that pauses while you're away for a month. Tell us how you use the pool and we'll price around it.
What products do you sell in your store?
Chlorine and bromine, balancers, algaecides, salt-system cells, cartridge and sand filters, variable-speed pumps, heat pumps, safety and solar covers, robotic cleaners, test kits and spa chemistry. Our shop at 118 Brock Street North in Whitby tests your water free, no appointment.
When do you do pool openings and closings?
Openings run April 1 to June 15 and closings September 8 to October 31. Both books fill roughly six weeks ahead. Weekly Care customers are scheduled first, in route order, and we confirm your date by text two weeks out.
How do I book a service appointment?
Call (905) 555-0148, email service@tavpools.ca, or send the form on this page. We answer the phone Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm in season. Tell us your town, pool size and what's going on, and we'll give you a date on the first call.
Do you offer emergency pool repair services?
We hold repair slots open every afternoon for pump failures, heater faults and leaks. Plan customers get a 48-hour guarantee; everyone else is usually within three business days. Green-pool recovery is a separate flat-rate job, quoted after we see a photo.
Can you service a hot tub in the winter?
Yes — spa service runs all twelve months. Cold-weather calls are mostly heater and flow-sensor faults, and we carry those parts on the truck from November through March.
