Nadia mapped my skin, wrote the plan down and told me two of the things I asked for were a waste of money. Nine months on my melasma is gone.

About Lumora

A skin studio that tells you the truth

We opened on NW Quimby in 2014 with one treatment room and a magnifying lamp. Twelve years later there are four rooms, a laser suite and six people — and the first appointment is still forty-five minutes of looking at your skin before anyone suggests buying anything.

Every client leaves the consult with a printed protocol: what we would do, in what order, what it costs, and what you can do at home instead. Roughly one in five is told to go home and fix their sunscreen first.

Skin mapping first

Woods lamp and high-res imaging at every consult, then again at six weeks.

Fixed, printed pricing

The number on your protocol is the number you pay. No add-ons at the till.

Tone-safe technology

Diode and Nd:YAG platforms cleared for every Fitzpatrick type.

Six-week review

Included with every course. Photographs, same lamp, same angle.

Who treats you

Nadia Okonjo

Founder · Licensed Master Esthetician

Nadia trained in Chicago, spent six years in a dermatology practice on the acne floor, and opened Lumora in 2014 because she wanted to spend an hour with a client instead of eleven minutes.

She still takes the first consultation for every new client, and she is the reason the price on your protocol never changes halfway through a course.

What clients actually say

Four hundred and eighty-six Google reviews, unedited. Three of them below.

“

I came in wanting laser and left with a $38 sunscreen and an appointment in three months. It worked. That is either very bad business or very good care — I have sent them four people since.

Twelve years of cystic acne and six weeks of the programme did more than two rounds of antibiotics. Amara checked my routine photos every single fortnight. Nobody had ever done that.

“

Third studio I tried for melasma and the first to ask about my medication before switching the laser on. The price on the printed plan was the price I paid, down to the dollar.

Questions

Before you book

Still unsure? Call the studio on (503) 555-0182 — Nadia answers most afternoons.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. Forty-five minutes, no card on file, and you leave with a printed protocol whether or not you book anything. We only charge if you go ahead with treatment.

Are your treatments safe for darker skin?

Our laser platforms are cleared for Fitzpatrick I–VI, and Nadia and Ines both hold advanced certification in skin of colour. Some treatments — IPL in particular — are not appropriate for every tone, and we will tell you that at the consult rather than after a test patch goes wrong.

How much downtime should I plan for?

Dermaplaning and HydraGlow: none. Microneedling: two days of looking sunburnt. A layered peel: three to five days of visible flaking. We schedule peels between October and March for that reason.

Do I have to buy your products?

No. We stock eleven products and will happily write your routine around what is already in your bathroom. Roughly a third of clients buy nothing on the first visit.

What if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Facials, dermaplaning and enzyme treatments are fine. Retinoids, hydroquinone, most peels and all laser are off the table until you have finished. Tell us at booking and we will plan around it.

What is your cancellation policy?

Twenty-four hours' notice, no fee. Inside twenty-four hours we ask for 50% of the session — one free pass a year, because life happens.
