Portrait of Dr. Amara Reyes
Dr. Amara Reyes, MD, FAADFounder & Medical Director

Twenty minutes with a doctor, not five with a screen.

Dr. Reyes opened Solera in 2016 after a decade in hospital dermatology, because she was tired of eight-minute appointments. Every patient here is seen by the physician — not an assistant — and every cosmetic injection is done by her hand.

She trained in Mohs micrographic surgery, so skin cancers found in this clinic are also removed and repaired in this clinic. You will not be sent across town mid-diagnosis.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Patient portrait
Marisol T.
Adult acne · 9 months of care
“Four dermatologists told me to keep using the same wash. Dr. Reyes ran bloodwork, found the hormonal driver and my skin was clear in five months.”
Patient portrait
Dana O.
Basal cell carcinoma · Mohs surgery
“Biopsy on Tuesday, results Thursday, surgery the following week — all in the same building. The scar on my nose is a thin line nobody notices.”
Patient portrait
Priya N.
Melasma · maintenance plan
“She talked me out of the expensive laser package and put me on a $40 cream instead. It worked. That is why I send everyone here.”

FAQ

Your Skin Questions, Answered

Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Solera accepts self-referrals for both medical and cosmetic visits. Some insurance plans require a referral for coverage — call us with your plan details and we will check before you book.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Medical concerns are usually seen within five business days, and a suspicious or changing lesion is seen within 48 hours. Cosmetic consultations run two to three weeks out.
Is my visit covered by insurance?
Medical dermatology — acne, eczema, psoriasis, mole checks, skin cancer surgery — is billed to insurance. We are in network with most major New Mexico plans. Cosmetic treatments are self-pay and always quoted in writing first.
Who performs the injectable treatments?
Dr. Reyes does every injection herself. We do not delegate neuromodulator or filler treatment to nursing staff, and we do not sell prepaid packages.
How long is recovery after Mohs surgery?
Most patients return to desk work the next day. Stitches come out in five to fourteen days depending on the site, and we see you at three months to review the scar.
Do you see children and teenagers?
Yes. We see patients from age two for eczema, birthmarks, warts and teen acne. A parent or guardian must attend for anyone under 18.
