Services

The work that keeps a small business straight.

You can hire us for one thing or the lot. Fees are quoted per service, in writing, before anyone starts.

  • 01

    Tax returns

T1s, T2s and the rental properties in between. Filed on time, with the working papers kept so next year is quicker.

  • 02

    Bookkeeping

Monthly reconciliation in QBO or Xero, with a call only when something looks wrong rather than a report nobody reads.

  • 03

    Payroll

Owner draws, source deductions, T4s and WCB — handled on a schedule that matches your pay cycle.

  • 04

    Year-end financials

Statements a lender or a buyer will accept, prepared and reviewed by a CPA rather than assembled by software.

  • 05

    CRA letters and reviews

If a letter arrives, we read it, draft the response and sit on the call with you until it's closed.

  • 06

    Fractional CFO

A monthly numbers conversation for firms past the point where bookkeeping alone is enough.

Who we work with

Three kinds of client, three kinds of mess.

Most of our work is with owners who outgrew a bookkeeper but don't want a Big Four invoice.

Trades and contractors

Progress billing, holdbacks, tool purchases and the GST that comes with all of it.

Restaurants and retail

Inventory, tips, patio season and the cash-flow swing between February and July.

Professional practices

Incorporation, salary versus dividends, and a clean set of books for the bank.

“They found $6,400 our last accountant missed, then explained the rule that caused it in a way I could actually follow.”

Dana Whitfield · Owner, Fernwood Renovations

How it works

Four steps, no mystery.

The first call is free and there is no pitch at the end of it.

01

A 20-minute call

You describe the business. We say whether we're the right fit, and what it would cost if we are.

02

A fixed quote

One page: what's included, what isn't, what it costs per month. Signed before work starts.

03

Clean-up

Prior years, missing receipts and the CRA correspondence get dealt with first.

04

The rhythm

Monthly books, quarterly check-ins, and a return filed before the deadline, not on it.

Questions

What owners ask before signing.

What does it cost?+

Bookkeeping starts at $325 a month for a sole proprietor and $650 for a corporation with payroll. A T2 return is $1,200, a T1 with rental income is $450. Anything unusual is quoted before it's done.

Can you fix prior years?+

Yes. Most clean-ups take two to six weeks depending on how far back the records go. We quote the clean-up separately so you can decide whether it's worth it.

Do I have to come into an office?+

No. Documents go through the portal, calls happen on video, and the only thing we ever need in person is a signature if you'd rather not use e-sign.

What if I'm behind on filings?+

That's most of the people who call us. We deal with the CRA on your behalf, request the clearance, and get the years filed in the order that stops the penalties first.
