What we do

Planning first. Investments second.

The portfolio is the easy part once the plan is settled. Most of the value is in the decisions around it.

  • 01

    Retirement planning

A cash-flow model that shows when you can stop, what you can spend, and which accounts to draw from in which order.

  • 02

    Business exit planning

Valuation, tax structure, and the two years of preparation that make a sale go smoothly rather than desperately.

  • 03

    Tax-aware investing

Asset location, capital gains timing and the coordination with your accountant that most advisers never pick up the phone for.

  • 04

    Estate and insurance review

Beneficiary designations, probate exposure and whether the policy you were sold in 2012 still does what it was sold to do.

Who it's for

Clients at a decision point, not a sales stage.

We're a small firm by choice. Advisers take on four new households a year so the plan gets maintained, not just delivered.

Business owners

Five years from a sale, with most of your net worth inside one company and no plan for the proceeds.

Pre-retirees

Between 55 and 68, with RRSPs, a pension and a cottage, trying to work out what's actually enough.

Widows and widowers

Inheriting an investment account and a set of decisions at the same time, and wanting them explained without being sold to.

“The plan fitted on two pages. After fifteen years with a big bank adviser, that was the first time I understood what we were actually doing.”

Fees and process

Published fees. No surprises.

You'll know the cost before the second meeting, in writing, and it doesn't change because the portfolio grew.

01

Fit conversation

Forty-five minutes to establish what you need and whether we do it. No charge, no pitch deck.

02

Discovery

Two meetings to gather the accounts, the tax returns, the company financials and the goals nobody has written down.

03

The plan

A written plan and a funded portfolio, reviewed twice a year and whenever life changes.

Questions

What clients ask first.

What do you charge?+

0.65% a year on managed assets, billed quarterly, with a $6,500 annual minimum. A standalone plan without portfolio management is $4,500, fixed. There are no commissions, trailers or referral fees.

What's the minimum?+

Generally $500,000 in investable assets. If you're a business owner heading toward a sale we'll sometimes take a smaller account, because the planning work is the point.

Who holds the money?+

A third-party custodian in your name. We have trading authority to rebalance; we never hold client funds and you can revoke access at any time.

Do you work with my accountant?+

Yes, with your permission. Most of the tax work happens in coordination, and we'd rather be on that call than send a summary afterwards.

Start with the plan, not a product.

A free fit conversation, a published fee, and a written plan you can read without an adviser beside you.
