How to Schedule an Email in Gmail
Schedule send is two clicks. The useful part is that a scheduled message can be cancelled at any point before it goes — a much longer undo than 30 seconds.
Try it with your GmailGmail's way: Schedule send
- 1Compose the message as normal. Next to the Send button, click the arrow, then Schedule send.
- 2Pick one of Gmail's suggested times or choose Pick date & time for anything else.
- 3In the Gmail app, tap More (the three dots at the top right) while composing, then Schedule send.
- 4Scheduled messages sit under Scheduled in the left sidebar until they go out.
- 5To change or stop one: open it from Scheduled and click Cancel send. It becomes a normal draft again, which you can edit and reschedule.
- 6The time you set is read in the timezone you scheduled it in — worth checking before you send something across time zones.
- 7Two limits Google states outright: you can hold up to 100 scheduled emails at once, and delivery can be a few minutes after the time you chose, so do not use it for anything to the second.
The problem
- ✕It only decides when a message goes, not whether it should
- ✕A scheduled message is easy to forget about until it lands
- ✕The Scheduled view is a separate place to check
- ✕Nothing schedules the follow-up for when the reply never comes
Clarity's way: the reply is already written
- 1Clarity reads the emails that need a reply and drafts one in your voice, learned from what you have already sent.
- 2The draft is saved on the thread in Gmail. Send it now, or schedule it with Gmail's own Schedule send.
- 3It tracks the mail you have sent that got no reply, so a thread going quiet becomes visible.
- 4The morning brief names what is waiting on you before you open the inbox.
What changes
- ✓The slow part is the writing, not the scheduling
- ✓Drafts are ordinary Gmail drafts, so Schedule send works on them normally
- ✓Follow-ups on unanswered sent mail are tracked rather than remembered
- ✓Nothing is ever sent without you

Clears the inbox on a Sunday but would rather nothing arrived until Monday.
Frequently asked questions
How many emails can I schedule in Gmail?
Up to 100 at once. Beyond that you have to let some send or cancel them before scheduling more.
How do I cancel a scheduled email in Gmail?
Click Scheduled in the left sidebar, open the message, and click Cancel send. It reverts to a draft you can edit or reschedule.
Which timezone does Gmail use for scheduled emails?
The one you were in when you scheduled it. If you travel between scheduling and sending, the message still goes at the moment you originally picked.
Will a scheduled email send exactly on time?
Close, but not to the second — Google says delivery can be a few minutes after the scheduled time. Do not use it for anything where the exact minute matters.
Can I use Schedule send as a longer undo?
Yes, and it is the best workaround Gmail has. Undo Send caps out at 30 seconds, but a scheduled message can be cancelled back to a draft at any point before it goes out.
