How to Recall an Email in Outlook
Recall works far less often than people expect. Here are the exact conditions — and the honest answer about what happens when they are not met.

- 1Open the sent message from Sent Items — double-click it, the reading pane is not enough.

No. Recall only removes an unread copy. Once opened, the message stays and the recipient additionally receives a notice that you tried to recall it.
Can I recall an email sent to Gmail?
No. Recall only works when sender and recipient are in the same Microsoft 365 or Exchange organisation. Anything sent to Gmail, Yahoo or any external provider cannot be recalled.
